RANGERS
Balance on me
Step by step
1
Have you ever thought about the importance of balance? When you're walking you're balancing. When you're getting in and out of a car, you're balancing. But have you ever had to use your problem solving skills to balance something unusual?
2
Get into teams. Let’s do some balance training. You’re going to play a game where you need to work with your team to balance everyone’s positions to score the lowest number of points.
3
Look at the ‘What’s the score’ section and figure out the lowest scoring balance pose for your team. For example, one Ranger could be sitting on their bum with their legs in the air, whilst another Ranger is standing on one foot, holding the first Rangers foot for balance.
Every Ranger must always have one body part touching the floor, and one body part supporting another Ranger, like holding someone’s leg to help them balance!
What's the score?
Collect these points for each body part still on the floor - but remember, get the lowest total score to win!
Feet - 10 points each
Bottom - 8 points
Hands - 2 points each
Stomach - 2 points
Elbow - 1 point
4
Practise your balancing positions, can you hold them?
5
Tell your leader what score your team’s going to aim for. You have to hold it for five seconds in front of your leader to get the points. Ready? Get balancing! If you fail, your team gets 100 points. Try again or choose different balances.
6
Perfectly balanced? Try adding rules to make it trickier. For example, no one in your group can use the same body part as the last round to balance with, or no one in your group can balance on the same body part as each other.
