What's next in the design process?
Now that the window to complete our uniform activities has closed, our design team are hard at work looking at all your ideas.
You can expect to hear more detail from us soon about what we learned from all of you, and how the design team are working to bring your uniform wants and needs together with our design principles.
Since January, we've been hearing from members in a few different ways. Here's what we've been up to:
Volunteer calls
At our most recent all member call, we heard more about the design process direct from the team at HemingwayDesign.
We discussed our goals for the project, talked about what's coming next and answered questions live on the call. You can catch up on the recording on our YouTube channel.
Activities to tell us what you think
We co-produced a new set of activities with HemingwayDesign so that every member had the chance to tell us what you want from your new uniform.
They were designed so that they could be done together as a unit or at home individually.
The opportunity to send us your responses to these activities has now closed, but you can still find them here.
Face-to-face events and focus groups
Between February and April, we're holding focus groups with members from under-represented backgrounds in guiding. We'll also be out and about visiting members in different regions. We'll do this at the same time as we're working on the designs, so your feedback will be incorporated in real time.
Do you know about any local guiding events going on in your area the we could come to? Let us know by filling out this survey.
We're working towards having finalised designs ready in July.
We won’t be able to share them with you right away, as we expect there’ll still be some tweaking and changes during the manufacturing process, which takes a long time to get right.
We also want to use this redesign as a chance to grow, and recruit more volunteers and girls. That may involve keeping the designs confidential for a while, to ensure that our big reveal moment gets as much press coverage and excitement as possible. But we'll tell you as much as we can, as soon as we can.
And as we've said before, the new uniform won't be available to buy until 2026. There'll be a transition period after the uniform is introduced. Our main priority is to minimise the impact of this change on our membership - we don't want or expect everyone to buy the new range straightaway.
We know how much our uniform matters to our members and how important it is to get this right. Throughout our long history, our uniforms have changed as we've adapted as an organisation. We're very proud of that history, and our natural ability to embrace change as what's important to girls continues to evolve.
We hope you're excited to see what's next!
