So far, we’ve engaged with over 10,700 girls and their parents and carers through 3 surveys - that’s nearly 4% of Girlguiding’s young members. We sampled 50% of our young members in November 2024 and the remaining 50% in May 2025, as well as asking all our members further questions in November 2025.

All findings in this report are statistically significant, to a confidence level of 95% or more. When a finding is significant, it simply means you can feel confident that it’s real, not that you just got lucky (or unlucky) in choosing the sample.

We know demographic characteristics have an impact on how girls feel, so where possible, we have taken this into account with our analysis by 'controlling' for the influence of key demographics. It means the differences you see in our results when comparing Girlguiding girls and UK girls cannot be explained by differences in ethnicity, disability and, for most of the findings, socioeconomic deprivation.

In producing any report, we aim to achieve the highest possible standard of evidence, and we’re happy to be transparent about our methodology. Our approach has been shaped by our theory of change.
